Jessica Montgomery leads several research and policy programmes tackling real-world challenges in developing and deploying AI for societal benefit.

Jessica Montgomery is Director of ai@cam, the University of Cambridge's flagship mission to develop AI technologies that serve science, citizens, and society. She leads several research and policy programmes tackling real-world challenges in developing and deploying AI for societal benefit, including: Accelerate Science, developing AI tools and collaborations for research and innovation; the Data Trusts Initiative, incubating pilot projects for trustworthy data governance; and strategic research agenda development for the ELISE/ELLIS network of European AI research. Jessica also leads the Cambridge ELIAS node, supporting researchers to explore entrepreneurship as a route to translating their AI for science innovations to real-world impact.

Her interests stem from her policy career working with parliamentarians, researchers and civil society to bring scientific evidence to policy issues. At the Royal Society, she led programmes exploring AI's implications for society. Previously, as Senior Clerk at the House of Commons, she advised MPs and managed select committee inquiries on science and policy issues.
