Miguel Rubio is a Policy Officer at the European Artificial Intelligence Office. Within the Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Unit, he addresses the opportunities and challenges of Frontier AI for Europe. Miguel is also collaborating in the RAISE initiative promoting policies that foster research on AI within the EU. He has led the design of the European Commission large AI Grand Challenge, an initiative designed to foster the development of powerful AI models in Europe.

Prior to the European Commission, he was an Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Granada. His research focused on applying Machine Learning to diverse fields such as solar energy, biomedical datasets, and learning analytics. Miguel's experience also includes exploring the use of Machine Learning models in remote sensing at the European Space Agency. His academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science and university degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Economics, and Business Administration.
