About
Anna Kreshuk
Curator Life Science
Anna Kreshuk is a group leader and acting deputy head of the Cell Biology and Biophysics Unit at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany.

Life sciences are a cornerstone of Europe’s ambitions for innovation, public health, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. With vast, interconnected data ecosystems, spanning molecular sequences, cellular structures, longitudinal health records, and large scale environmental observations, the field offers an unparalleled foundation for artificial intelligence uptake.

Its long tradition of collaborative research and open data makes it uniquely positioned to harness AI at scale, rapidly turning data into deeper biological insight with direct societal benefits for human and planetary health.

Landmark achievements such as AlphaFold have already demonstrated the transformative potential of AI-powered discovery.

The challenge now is to identify and enable the next wave of breakthroughs: models that integrate diverse biological data, new approaches to clinical prediction, and scalable tools that can be used across disciplines.

Bringing together leading researchers, infrastructure experts, and emerging innovators, the programme will explore how Europe can translate scientific excellence into system-wide capability, and how the life sciences can continue to serve as a proving ground for responsible, high-impact AI.
